SceneSafe Swabbing Kit (Spit Kit)
Spitting assaults are worryingly on the rise in the UK and elsewhere, and not just aimed at emergency workers. In the UK, deliberately spitting at someone constitutes a common assault, which can lead to a fine or a jail sentence of up to 6 months.
SceneSafe provides the UK's only independently certified ISO 18385:2016 "Forensic DNA Grade" Saliva (Spit) Swabbing Kit. This kit is already widely used by emergency workers.
The kit contains 2 x Forensic DNA Grade Swabs, 1 for a control swab to be retained unused and 1 to be used to collect the evidential saliva (Spit) sample. Instructions on use, gloves and a evidential Tamper Evident Bag are also included.
Certification of the swabs Forensic DNA Grade status are available.
The swabs, Gloves and Tamper Evident Bags are the exact same as those used by all UK police forces.
In addition to emergency workers, the kits are encouraged to be carried and used by all frontline staff that may, during the course of their interactions with members of the public, mean they could be drawn into confrontation that could result in a spitting assault. This includes, local government enforcement staff & officials, shop security and till staff, housing officials, public transport drivers and conductors, parking enforcement officers and PCSO's. This list is not exhaustive and if a member of your staff is in a vulnerable position and public confrontation is a potential risk, then having the spit kit on hand to evidence this despicable offence will give them the confidence to tackle this crime head on.
